Does Forgetting Become a Disease?
In the early stages of
Alzheimer's disease the symptoms often go unrecognized.
If you think someone close to you may have Alzheimer's
disease, use these 19 questions to help you know whether
you should talk with a doctor about the symptoms you
see.
1. Do you need
reminders to do things? 2. Do you forget
appointments? 3. Do you get lost easily? 4. Do
you repeat yourself? 5. Do you have trouble
remembering names? 6. Do you forget family occasions
and holidays? 7. Do you forget to take your
medications on time? 8. Do you ask the same question
repeatedly? 9. Have you had trouble making change
for a purchase? 10. Have you lost interest in
hobbies and social events? 11. Do you need help
eating and dressing? 12. Do you have trouble reading
books? 13. Do you have trouble finishing a sentence?
14. Does any family member have Alzheimer's Disease?
15. Do you have trouble remembering all of your
co-workers names? 16. Do you have mood swings or
personality changes? 17. Do you get angry easily?
18. Do you misplace your car keys and other items?
19. Do you have a loss of smell?
If you answered 'yes' to 10 or more questions, or a
combination of 'yes' and 'sometimes' to 15 or more
questions, please talk with your loved ones and your
physician about the symptoms.
