Education for Family Caregivers
ABCs of Caregiving-Short workshops for people caring
for persons with Alzheimers disease or related disorders. The ABCs
programs are offered in Anchorage, Palmer, Fairbanks and Juneau. Some
of the topics covered are legal issues and Medicaid/Medicare concerns.
Savvy Caregiver Program- An education program designed to provide people
caring for a loved one with Alzheimers disease an opportunity to
learn better coping skills.
Education
for Professionals
Dementia Care Training: This program targets people who
work with individuals with Alzheimers disease and related disorders
to include: respite workers, personal care attendants, care coordinators,
home health workers, adult day, assisted living home, and long-term care
staff. The program offers an overview of Alzheimers disease, understanding
the dementia experience, communication skill development and enhancing
activities of daily living in its two-day skill-building workshop.
Distance
Delivery Introduction to Alzheimers Disease is an educational
manual designed to provide personal care workers with an introduction
to the topic of Alzheimers disease and related disorders (ADRD).
The guide will give rural care providers important information on the
disease they might not otherwise be able to access. The Self-Study Guide
is a way to learn valuable information on Alzheimers disease and
related disorders and earn 7.2 CEUs. You will find this educational
manual helpful as you provide the very important care that our aging population
needs.
Education for the General Public
Annual Research Forum-Latest Research and discussion on
Alzheimers disease and related disorders. The forum is a free event
offered once a year to the general public.
Winter Workshop-Presentations
and discussion to professional care providers and family caregivers on
caregiving issues.
