Dementia causes the person diagnosed to shift their perception of the world. Often with the loss of memory and language, caregiving can become difficult as we’re unable to identify wants or needs. Communication begins to take different forms and at times that includes challenging behaviors such as yelling, acting out or withdrawing. There is a reason! Learn how to rethink behaviors as forms of communication while strategizing appropriate responses.
