Joan grew up in Fairbanks where she raised her family. She worked on the Pipeline, homesteaded, worked at the Women’s Shelter and engaged in a private healing practice with her partner.
Joan’s studies include education, social work and numerous healing modalities. She was an adjunct professor at UAF, created and facilitated therapy groups, support groups, and education and outreach activities & events.
Joan cared for her mother who had dementia and began working at ARA in 2005. She is responsible for the entire Interior Alaska region for ARA. She enjoys networking with the community and interacting with the families who come to the agency for assistance.
