The Page Turners Book Club: Aging with Grace
Join us for our NEW Page Turners Book Club, a welcoming monthly discussion group for anyone interested in brain health, healthy aging, and lifelong learning. Caregiving can be demanding, and it’s easy to put your own interests aside. This book club is an opportunity to slow down, enjoy a good book, and connect with others who understand the caregiving journey. Read at your own pace, then join us each month to share insights, discuss the reading, celebrate successes, talk through challenges, and support one another in a welcoming, judgment free environment.
Our first featured book is Aging with Grace by Dr. David Snowdon, the groundbreaking account of the landmark Nun Study, one of the most influential studies on aging and Alzheimer’s disease. Together, we’ll explore what this remarkable research teaches us about cognitive health, resilience, purpose, and the factors that may help support brain health throughout life.
The club meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., beginning August 26, and is open to participants in Fairbanks and statewide via Zoom.
For our first discussion in August, we’ll cover Chapters 1 through 3. During our September meeting, we’ll discuss 4-6, in October we’ll discuss chapters 7-9, and we’ll close out the book in November with chapters 10-13. We’ll begin a new book club in January with Tangled but Sarah Leavitt – stay tuned for more.
Books are available through Amazon, ThriftBooks, Kindle, and other online retailers. You may also be able to borrow the ebook or audiobook through the Libby app with your local library card or check with the Noel Wien Library or your local library for available copies.
