Caregiver 101: Holiday Family & Travel with Dementia

November 16 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

The holidays can be a wonderful time for family, traditions, and celebration, but changes in routine, larger gatherings, travel, noise, and added activity can sometimes be overwhelming for a person living with dementia.

Join Alzheimer’s Resource Alaska and Debbie, who will be hosting this CG101 class focused on making the holiday season and travel more comfortable, meaningful, and safe for everyone. We will discuss ways to adapt holiday traditions, prepare family and friends for visits, reduce overstimulation, and create celebrations that include and support a loved one living with dementia.

Travel can bring its own challenges. Participants will also learn practical strategies for planning ahead, maintaining familiar routines while away from home, navigating transportation and unfamiliar environments, and prioritizing safety and comfort throughout the journey.

New to caregiving? CG101 is a great place to start. This class series provides practical information and tools to help you better understand dementia, navigate changing needs, establish supportive routines, and care with confidence.
