Caregiving 101: Dining and Dementia

February 26 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

This class focuses on the unique challenges and opportunities that arise during meals for individuals living with dementia. Participants will learn how changes in memory, perception, and motor skills can affect eating and nutrition. The course explores practical strategies to support dignity, independence, and safety at mealtime while reducing stress for both caregivers and care recipients.

Topics include recognizing common eating related behaviors, creating a supportive dining environment, adapting foods and utensils, and responding calmly to challenges such as refusal to eat or distraction. Caregivers will leave with tools they can use immediately to promote better nutrition, meaningful connection, and a more positive mealtime experience.
