Gay moved to Alaska with her family in 1978 from the east coast. She worked as an RN in substance abuse and mental health in Anchorage until moving to the Copper River Basin in 1996 where she worked for the Copper River Native Association in the Behavioral Health department until 2007 when she was hired by Alzheimer’s Resource of Alaska as a Dementia Care Education Specialist for the area.
Gay works out of her home in Kenny Lake providing state wide virtual, and when possible, in-person presentations, consultations, and support groups for those caring for someone with dementia. She is also a long distance caregiver for her sister who has dementia in NC. Working with Alzheimer’s Resource of Alaska is Gay’s dream job.
